Research Activities

‘Commitments’ has been associated for the research projects with

  1. National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad on the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.
  2. Prof. Yutaka Takamine, University of Ryukyus, Okinowa, Japan on the Self Help Groups of Persons with Disabilities. This study was conducted in the year 2008-2010 on the impact of SHGs on the life of Persons with Disabilities.
  3. Ms.Vandana Chowdary, doctoral student, Illinois State University, Chicago, stayed with Commitments for eighteen months during 2007-2008 as part of her field research work on the theme of self help groups and PwDs.
  4. Action Aid who visited the Commitments field area for inputs for their study on social mobilisation of PwDs during 2001-02.
  5. UNESCAP on livelihoods of persons with disabilities in the year 2012- This action research on disability, poverty and livelihoods was carried out sponsored by UNESCAP. The sample size is 230 PWDs both men and women with cross disabilities living in 20 villages in 10 mandals. The executive summary of the research is enclosed.
'Commitments’ have tax-exempt status in India, entitling the donations made to it to qualify for exemption Under Section 80 G of Income Tax Act, 1961. Similarly ‘Commitments’ possesses registration granted by Govt.of India, Ministry of Home Affairs under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 to receive donations and contributions from Foreign Donors and Agencies.
