The ‘Commitments’ has been educating PwDs of their rights and entitlements. It has also undertaken several training programs for sensitising the local bodies and line departments for the implementation of PWD Act 1995. The Mission of Commitments is to `enable the poor and disadvantaged communities to perceive possibilities for change and bring about desired change by exercising informed choices through collective action’. So far about 400 Government officers are covered under this program. As a result of this work the leaders of SHGs, MVS and Bissa committee could visit state and district/mandal level officers and access several services from Government. They could access Rs. 8.5M as grant from Government apart from a grant of Rs. 6.00M each year for each mandal federation for providing support to their group members.

'Commitments’ have tax-exempt status in India, entitling the donations made to it to qualify for exemption Under Section 80 G of Income Tax Act, 1961. Similarly ‘Commitments’ possesses registration granted by Govt.of India, Ministry of Home Affairs under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 to receive donations and contributions from Foreign Donors and Agencies.
